The competitiveness of different specialties is constantly changing. Let's talk about which specialties are becoming increasingly more competitive.
Number one is psychiatry. Psychiatry is becoming more and more popular, and this could be for a number of reasons. It could be for its availability to be a telemedicine practice or an in-person practice, and its quality of life is very favorable to many applicants; therefore, it's becoming more competitive.
Another specialty that is also becoming more competitive is ob/gyn. People think this might be due to the state of politics right now in our country and more people wanting to go into this field. It actually had a 99% fill rate, which is higher than most other years for ob/gyn residencies. That is just showing how much people are really wanting to go into this field.
