Journal of Medicine - If a study published in the August issue of the European Respiratory Journal is any indication, half of all women are suffering from sleep apnea.

A random population sample of 400 adult women who answered a questionnaire and were then monitored while sleeping showed half stopped breathing longer than 10 seconds at least five episodes per hour, the minimum definition of sleep apnea.

The lead author of the study was Dr. Karl Franklin, a professor at Umea University in Sweden.
